Juhl Peterson

November 19, 1942 — October 26, 2011

Juhl Willis Peterson was born November 19, 1942, the son of Willis Jay and Laurina Kafton Peterson. He passed away at his home in Westside, Iowa, on October 26, 2011, at the age of sixty-eight.
Juhl was born in Carroll, Iowa, and baptized in 1943 and confirmed in 1955 at the United Church of Christ in Westside. He attended the ArWeVa Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1961. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Carol Ann Lawver on February 6, 1965, at the Methodist Church Chapel in Des Moines, Iowa, and this union was blessed with the birth of two children.
Juhl began his employment with Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan, managing inventory and shipping parts to dealers in the Autolite division; then became salesman of the Autolite division in Long Island, New York. His next move was to Kansas City, Missouri, as a salesman for a chemical company, and he then became sales manager for Kirby Vacuum Company, earning top sales awards for many years. Juhl then opened an office for the Kirby Company in Elbridge, New York. In 1973 they returned to Westside and began farming with Juhl's father, Willis. In 1985, Juhl and his father started RJV Transport in Westside, and in 1990 Juhl bought his father's share of the business and became president of RJV Transport, Inc. Juhl was in the process of turning his business over to his son Aaron and retiring within the next year.
Juhl had a passion for Ford cars, having worked for the Ford Company, especially the Lincoln Mark V he owned. He loved to go dancing when there was a band playing good old 60's rock and roll. Playing cards and going to the movies on Saturday nights were other favorite activities of his when he wasn't working. Sunday mornings he and Carol would have their special "date-day," going to HyVee in Carroll for breakfast.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother-in-law, Jerry. He is survived by his wife, Carol; one daughter, Lori and her husband, Tim; one son, Aaron; two granddaughters: Camelin and Brianna; one sister, Raejean; one brother, Verle and his wife, Donna; dear family friend, Missy; other relatives and friends.
