Karen K. Reisz

Karen Kay Zimmer Reisz was born February 23, 1947, to Donald (Cactus) and Betty Koenck Zimmer. She passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011, at her home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of sixty four.
She was born in Carroll, Iowa, and grew up on the family farm in Crawford County, near Boyer, Iowa. She received her education in the Odebolt-Arthur Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1965.
On April 20, 1968, she was united in marriage to Robert Reisz, Jr., at St. Anns Catholic Church in Vail, Iowa, by Father Clark. The couple made their home in Denison, Iowa, and were blessed with the birth of two sons.
Karens employment, in addition to homemaker, included: dental assistant to Dr.Dirks, home daycare, bookkeeper and secretary for Reisz Construction, Topko Home Health, Dr. Bendixons office, and most recently a para-educator at the Denison Middle School. She enjoyed reading, working outside in her flower and vegetable gardens, and canning the fruits of her labor. She was also gifted in baking and decorating special occasion cakes for family and friends. Karen was a very friendly person, loving to socialize with family and friends. Her grandchildren were especially important to her. Working with young people at the Denison Middle School was something that brought her great joy. She had recently become involved in genealogy. In her younger years, she was competitive in basketball, swimming, and softball and her enthusiasm for sports continued as she was an avid follower of the Chicago Cubs. Karens faith was important to her as evidenced by her involvement with activities at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison.
She was preceded in death by her father Donald (Cactus), one brother, Keith, and one sister, Susan. Survivors include her husband, Bob; two sons: Greg and his wife, Tammy; and Gary and his wife, Lisa; seven grandchildren; her mother, Betty; three brothers: Francis and his wife, Vicki; Chuck and his wife, Pat; Dale and his wife, Judy; three sisters: Donna and her husband, Roger; Mary Jane and her husband, Joe; Joan and her husband Brent; one brother-in-law Neil; and many other relatives and friends.
