Kathy Fay Korner was born on July 25, 1951, the daughter of William and Doris (Futtrell) Pryor in Hammond, Indiana. She was baptized and confirmed on December 14, 1980 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. She graduated from Bradford Community School in Ohio in 1969.

On August 7, 1976, Kathy was united in marriage to Michael Korner at Immanuel Lutheran Church. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Kim, Curtis, and Jason and they made their home in Schleswig.

Throughout her life, Kathy held various jobs but is best remembered for owning and operating the Dairy Creme Drive-In in Schleswig. Kathy dedicated many years as a caregiver and a traveling Certified Nursing Assistant. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many countless individuals over the years.

Beyond her career achievements, Kathy adored her family more than anything else in this world. As a devoted wife to her loving husband, they shared an inseparable bond that lasted a lifetime. They embarked on adventures together, traveling to see the ocean, which was a favorite of hers and exploring new places.

Kathy's role as a mother and grandmother brought immeasurable joy to her heart, her love knew no bounds. Each birthday was special as she lovingly baked personalized cakes for her grandchildren to celebrate. She attended endless sports games, cheering on her grandchildren with unwavering support. She treasured every moment spent together and created lasting memories that will forever be cherished.

Kathy had a wide range of hobbies and interests. She loved fishing, playing bingo, cards with friends, and games with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed engaging in friendly competition on a bowling league. She had a green thumb and found solace in tending to her garden and plants. Her baking talents were legendary as she delighted family and friends with cookies, cakes, and assorted desserts during the holiday season. Her grandchildren were used as honorary taste testers and decorators. Her devotion to her faith was palpable as she served as a LYF Leader and taught Sunday School and Confirmation Class. She was a longtime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig.

Kathy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, attaining the age of 72 years. She is preceded in death by parents, William and Doris Pryor; and siblings, Betty and William; mother and father-in-law, Donald and Dorothy Korner; brother-in-law, Dennis.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Korner of Schleswig; daughter, Kim and her husband Jerod Petersen of Schleswig; sons: Curtis Korner and his wife Angela of Schleswig, and Jason Korner and his wife Tammy of Papillion, Nebraska; grandchildren: Tanner Petersen of Primghar, Sadie and her husband Tyler Jacobsen of Wall Lake, Jaden Petersen of Primghar, Austin Korner and his fiancé Allie Britten of Johnston, Calli and Kara Korner of Schleswig; Tyler and Derek Korner of Papillion, Nebraska; great-grandchildren: Emrie Jacobsen, Brooks Petersen, and Jaxson Case; siblings: Wilma, David, Larry, Lowell, and Bonnie; sister-in-law, Connie; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation with family will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig. Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig with burial to follow in Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Memorials may be directed to the family.
