Kendall Burdette Furne

Kendall Burdette Furne was born on September 18, 1948 the son of Edward and Ida (Hansen) Furne at home in Battle Creek, Iowa. He was born the eleventh of fourteen children. He was baptized on December 23, 1948 and later confirmed his faith on May 26, 1963 by Rev. Albers, all at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. He graduated from Battle Creek High School with the class of 1968.

Kendall dealt with many health issues all his life. When he was a child, he had rheumatic fever which damaged his heart and when he was in his 20's he was in a car accident which left him with seizures.

In January of 1983, he moved in with his brother Wes and his wife, Dianne in Denison. He worked various jobs including Dubuque Pack, Midwest Industries, WinnaVegas Casino and Tyson Foods. For the last few years, he has wintered in Texas where he enjoyed visiting with friends and playing cards in the warm weather. His favorite TV shows were '60's and '70's sitcoms. He enjoyed listening to Dean Martin, Roy Clark and country music.

Kendall passed away on September 30, 2022 at the Denison Care Center at the age of 74 years and 12 days.

Kendall was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Andrew; brothers: Richard, Edward, Roger, Frederick "Tiny", and Willis; sisters: Francis Gute and Marla Juhl; brothers-in-law: Virgil Juhl, Jerry Jensen, Curtis Winther and Larry Winans; sisters-in-law, Marge Furne and Robin Furne. He is survived by his brothers: Dennis (Elaine) Furne of Atlantic, Wesley (Dianne) Furne of Denison, and Craig Furne of Denison; sisters: Leanna Jensen of Spring Green, Wisconsin and Carla Winans of Denison; sisters-in-law: Ileen Furne of Atlantic and Judy Furne of Battle Creek; many nieces and nephews; and several other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and the memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. all on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Inurnment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Battle Creek. Memorials may be directed to the family.
