Kenneth D. Ransom

February 7, 1932 — July 26, 2021

Kenneth D. Ransom was born February 7, 1932 to the late Clarence and Edna (Asmus) Ransom in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized on January 1, 1940 at the Baptist Church in Denison and later confirmed his faith on December 10, 1995 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Ken received his education from the area schools.

On March 18, 1947, Ken was united in marriage to Beulah Frazier in Denison. To this union, they were blessed with four children: Sharon, Kenny, Steve and Kevin. They made their home in Denison where they have resided all their lives.

He worked as a foreman for Godbersen-Smith Construction Company in Ida Grove for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper. For many years, he enjoyed racing stock cars around Crawford County area where that tradition carried on to his son and grandson. Above all, Ken loved and cherished his family more than anything.

Ken passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, July 26, 2021 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison attaining the age of eighty-nine years, five months and nineteen days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law: Charles Campbell; brothers: Larry, Robert, Darold, Thomas, Jim and Dale; sisters: Diane, Norma, Darlyne and Marvel; half-brothers: Clarence, Earl, Willis, Wid and Donald; half-sister: Vera and Donna.

Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 74 years: Beulah Ransom of Denison; children: Sharon Campbell of Lebanon, Missouri, Kenny Ransom and his wife Kathy of Dow City, Steven Ransom and his wife Beverly of Denison and Kevin Ransom and his wife Cheryl of Denison; 10 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Julie and her husband Dennis Jepsen of Denison, Janice and her husband Junior Wood of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Carol Goeppner of Webster City, Iowa; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Interment is in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the family.
