Kenneth Scott Macgregor

July 3, 1958 — February 3, 2021

Kenneth Scott MacGregor was born July 3rd, 1958 to Robert and Laura (Hughbanks) MacGregor in Manila, Philippines, where Robert worked as an accountant in international business. As a child, he was exposed to many cultures while living in New Jersey and Mexico City that inspired him to pursue a career in culinary arts, where he graduated culinary school in Houston, Texas. He began his culinary career in the Florida Keys where he owned his own catering business and managed various restaurants. One of the highlights of his culinary career was when he was offered a position as a private chef for a distinguished individual where he traveled extensively off the coast of California to Central America on his private yacht. After this he was led to Iowa and continued in the restaurant business until 2011 when he began working at FAC in Arcadia which he enjoyed and loved the people he worked with.

Kenn had many passions and craved knowledge and loved learning. This was very evident when he committed his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He thirsted for knowledge , studied, and attended bible studies to learn to follow Him and be a man of integrity.

Deep sea fishing, scuba diving and spearfishing were his Florida hobbies. However, he loved researching any topic that peaked his interest and dove into learning. With not being raised an Iowa farm boy, he researched areas of interest in order to teach his sons self-sufficiency by learning how to raise meat rabbits, 2 cows, chickens, beekeeping, and turkey hunting. Other interests were butchering and smoking meat. Cooking, eating excellent food and sharing it with others was a passion. Playing the guitar and his love for music was as important as cooking. He instilled his love of music to his children and loved teaching others to play. Specifically, his church family. He shared his talent by giving Saturday morning lessons to anyone who wanted to learn and initiated the development of Broken Things, the high school worship team at Grace Evangelical Free Church. He felt it was so important to raise up the next generation to be able to step into and help lead worship to the God he loved. He always tried to honor God with the gift he was given.

A blind date, set up by a brother and sister in Christ, led him to meet the love of his life, Rhonda Lee Roberts. They were united in marriage on November 7th, 1998 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. They made their home in Denison, where they had their four sons: Ian Scott , Jack Robert, Connor Boston, and Brandon Lee. Providing for his family instilling the love of Jesus, and striving to teach them to be the best husbands and fathers someday was his main priority. Supporting their interests and activities has inspired them to set high goals and the faith to reach them with the love of Christ.

In January of 2020, he was diagnosed with stage three throat cancer. Although looking at the journey ahead was long, he had strength, peace, and an optimistic attitude through it all because of his trust in God. Through the next year, he embraced his relationship with the Lord to the fullest. At this time, he learned and discovered a new passion of oil painting.

On Wednesday, February 3, 2021 Kenn was welcomed into Heaven by his Heavenly Father at the age of sixty-two years and seven months. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved uncle, Col. Jack MacGregor.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Rhonda of Denison and sons, Ian, Jack, Connor, and Brandon MacGregor all of Denison; His sister Miffie Seideman of Phoenix, AZ; brother Gavin MacGregor of New Mexico; other relatives and many friends.
