Kermit Edward Henningsen

Kermit Edward Henningsen, originally of Deloit, Iowa, entered into eternal rest on November 17, 2021. Kermit, the second of seven boys, was born on a farm north of Denison, Iowa on November 10, 1935 to Walter and Clara (Klink) Henningsen. Kermit was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison; where he received his blessing of baptism on April 12, 1936 and later his confirmation on April 2, 1950.

From 1956-1958, Kermit served in the U.S. Army as a Sharpshooter at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Following an Honorable Discharge; Kermit moved to DeWitt, Iowa and worked as a welder at Case in Bettendorf, Iowa. Kermit was united in marriage to Darlene Kay Oesterborg at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt on July 3, 1960. This union was blessed with four children: Doreen, Dawn, Kevin, and Donald. In 1968; Kermit and his family moved to rural Deloit, Iowa and he began farming. In 1997; Kermit retired from farming and drove truck for RJV Transport out of Westside, Iowa.

Left to cherish Kermit's memory are his children: Doreen Henningsen, Dawn (Louis) Winey, Kevin (Molly) Henningsen, and Donald (Sarah) Henningsen; grandchildren: Nicole Winey, Amanda Kelley, Macy Henningsen, Rachel (Vincent) Kreutz, Sydney Henningsen, and Gabriel Henningsen; great-grandchildren: Calvin Jacoby, Azalea Kreutz, and Violet Kreutz; brothers: Marlo (Norma) Henningsen, Dale (Nadine) Henningsen, and Wesley (Mary) Henningsen; sister-in-law, Lana Henningsen; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kermit was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 60 years, Darlene; his parents, Walter and Clara Henningsen; brothers: Darrell Henningsen, Ronald Henningsen, and Verdell Henningsen; and granddaughter, Kristin Kelley.

Visitation will be held at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa on Monday November 22, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to Kindred Hospice 831 North Griffith Road, Carroll, Iowa 51401.
