Kevin Donald Eck was born August 31, 1956, the son of Donald and Beverly Kroll Eck. He died Monday, February 28, 2011, at his home in Kiron, Iowa, at the age of fifty-four.
Kevin was born in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on September 30, 1956, and confirmed on March 22, 1970, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. He attended school in Westside and graduated from Ar-We-Va High School with the class of 1974. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1977. He attended the National Education Center in Des Moines, Iowa, and graduated in 1987 with an Associate Degree in electronic engineering technology. After working six and a half years for Ryko Manufacturing in Florida, in 1993 he moved to Jefferson, Wisconsin, where he continued working for the same company. In 1998 he moved to Denison and then to Kiron in 2000.
On October 7, 1978, he was united in marriage to Tamarra Woodle at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, by Rev. Kenneth Haydon. The couple was blessed with the birth of two children. He worked for Farmland in Denison for 13 years.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and son. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandson, and attending his childrens Little League events, while residing in Florida. He also liked getting together with friends. Memorable vacations were spent in Colorado. Some of his favorite activities included woodworking, hunting and fishing, and watching racing. He was known to be a very technical individual.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Tami; two sons: Brandon and his wife, Alissa; and Kelby and his special friend, Rya; one grandson, Gavin; his parents, Donald and Beverly; two sisters: Lanette and her husband, Gene; and Lanice and her husband, Gerry; one brother, Keith and his wife, Lori; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 4, 2011, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. David Loeschen officiated the service and graveside rites held at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Stockholm Township, in Kiron, Iowa. Organist Mary Kuhlmann provided accompaniment for congregational hymns, "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagle's Wings." Serving as honorary pallbearers were Terry Anderson, Frank Zimmer, Rick Petersen, Randy Mohr, Ron Ziemen, and Terry Preul. Military Honors and pallbearers were the American Legion Post 645 & VFW Post 3930 of Schleswig, Iowa.The family invited everyone to remain at the church for fellowship and lunch served by the Women's Guild. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
