Kevin Ransom

Kevin Jay Ransom was born on February 18, 1956, the son of Kenneth and Beulah (Frazier) Ransom in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Kevin received his education from Denison High School and graduated with the class of 1974.

Kevin began his career with Godbersen Smith Construction Company based in Ida Grove, where he dedicated over 25 years of hard work and commitment. Unfortunately, his time there came to an end after a serious accident.

On May 24, 1975, Kevin married Cheryl Toliver at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Together, they were blessed with three sons: Jason, Jared, and Jorden.

Kevin was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and proudly belonged to the Gold Wing Riders Association. He and Cheryl shared a love for travel, exploring 38 states together on their motorcycle. He found joy in the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and eagerly awaited springtime to hunt for morel mushrooms. Kevin also had a passion for collecting various items, always thinking they might come in handy one day. Above all, he treasured time with his family and found his greatest joy in being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kevin passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison at the age of 69 years, one month and 23 days. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ransom; parents-in-law, Bob and Barb Toliver; and sister, Sharon Campbell.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Ransom of Denison; three sons: Jason (Laura) Ransom of Wall Lake, Jared Ransom and Jorden Ransom both of Denison; mother, Beulah Ransom of Denison; grandchildren: Tyler (Brittany), Kaylee (Chad), Alexis, Braydan (Alicia), Ethan (Hailey), Ciarra (Keagan), Autumn, Addison, Aiden and Stephanie; great-grandchildren: Paisley, Parker, Penelope, Jerzee, Bentlee, Kyra, Kinsley, Piper, Violet and Elena; brothers: Kenny (Kathy) Ransom and Steve (Beverly) Ransom; many nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.

His visitation with family greeting friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with his Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. all on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the family for a donation to be made in his name.
