Lamorn A. Kropf

LaMorn Anna Kropf was born September 25, 1919, the daughter of Edward and Frieda (Christensen) Gehring. She passed away July 8, 2015 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, Iowa at the age of ninety-five.
LaMorn was baptized at home on May 19, 1920 and confirmed on February 19, 1939 at St. John’s in Deloit, Iowa. She was educated through graduation from Odebolt High School in 1937. She then went on to further her education at Normal College in Denison. She taught at rural schools until her marriage to Edward I. Kropf on January 12, 1945. She then became a homemaker, and she and Edward moved to Boyer where he was a trucker. They later moved north of Westside until 1959 and finally to Wall Lake, Iowa in 1988.
LaMorn was a classy lady and always enjoyed socializing. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping, and attending her grandkids’ sporting events and babysitting for them. She was an active bowler and a member of the women’s league for bowling. She enjoyed agriculture programs such as Market to Market and watched them on a weekly basis. She was a hard worker, always milking cows and tending to the chickens and all kinds of livestock. She also enjoyed going out West to cattle sales in South Dakota and Nebraska. LaMorn was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
LaMorn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward in 1994; one granddaughter Allison Kropf; one great-grandson Carter Fiore; son-in-law Allan Brotherson; one sister Lorraine Dersien and her husband Hans; one brother Edward Gehring and his wife Shirley; one brother-in-law Leonard Dreessen. Survivors include: one son Jim Kropf and his wife Brenda of Wall Lake, Iowa; one daughter Pat Brotherson and her husband Charles McDonough of Breda, Iowa; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Dreessen of Wall Lake; many other relatives and friends.
