Larri M. Curry

May 1, 1965 — October 11, 2017

Larri Michael Curry, Sr. was born May 1, 1965, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Ronald Brown and Joyce Dunlap. He passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of fifty-two.
Receiving his education in Illinois, he was a graduate of Joliet Central High School. After serving his country in the United States Marines, Larri lived in California for a short time before moving back to Joliet, Illinois. Larri was united in marriage to Kristi Carey August 9, 1998, in Joliet, Illinois. For the past eight years, since October of 2009, he had been working as the wastewater manager at Denison Municipal Utilities (DMU) in Denison, Iowa.
In his leisure time, Larri enjoyed participating in darts, cards, bowling and golf and watching any sport on television, particularly tennis and his favorite players – Venus and Serena. He served as a mentor and coach to many of the area’s young athletes and instilled in them that it was about learning the skills and not just winning the game. Although opinionated and outspoken, Larri had a heart of gold, a practical joker with a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh from deep within his soul.
Larri was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce; and twin daughters, Riasia & Miasia. Survivors include: his wife, Kristi; his children: Larri Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, JD, Ladel, Jazmyn, Carlos, and Maverick; three grandchildren; his father, Ronald; his siblings: Kendall; Vinita and her husband, Vince; Robyn and his wife, Joan; Omar and his wife, Shellie; and Tia; other relatives and friends.
