Larry L. Alexander

Larry Lee Alexander was born on December 24, 1945, to Darrell and Hilma (Klenk) Alexander in Tama, Iowa. He attended school until eighth grade and then started foundry work in Tama. Larry married Patricia Wheeler on November 22, 1968, in Des Moines, Iowa. He managed Sinclair gas stations in Des Moines for several years until he moved to Marshalltown, Iowa; where he finished out his final working years, caring for the Marshalltown Cemetery. He retired in 1985.

Larry loved sitting on the river bank with his fishing pole and his radio. He also enjoyed playing cards; especially poker with his brothers. Most of all, Larry cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

Larry passed away on September 2, 2020, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 74 years, eight months and nine days.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and son, Craig Alexander on March 19, 1979. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Alexander of Denison, Iowa; daughter, Wendy and her husband, Alberto Vazquez of Denison; three grandchildren, Carlos Martinez and his wife, Anniemarie, Richard Martinez, and Micxi Vazquez and her fianc, Dylan Murray; three great-grandchildren, Aubrianna, Athena, and Stacey; three brothers, Keith Alexander and his wife, Arlene of Des Moines, Wayne Alexander and his wife, Dorothy of Toledo, Iowa, and Allan Alexander and his wife, Becky of Tama; and many other relatives and friends.

A private family visitation will be held and Larry’s final resting place will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama, Iowa.
