Larry Vaughn

Lawrence Larry Vaughn was born January 10, 1949, the son of Aaron and Dorathy Haynes Vaughn. He left this world on September 24, 2013, at his home near Sioux Rapids, Iowa, at the age of 64.

Larry was born in Flint, Michigan. He moved with his family to Iowa as a small boy. Larry served in the U.S. Army. He was promoted to the rank of SP4, fighting for his country in Vietnam from March 5, 1969, through November 1970. While in the Army

Larry completed his education and earned his GED. After completing his military duties, he was honorably discharged from the Army, March 4, 1975. He furthered his education at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, Iowa, with an accumulative GPA of 3.95 graduating in November 1984 with an Associates Degree. He was a skilled craftsman, excelling in carpentry, metal fabrication, and concrete. Among these jobs, he worked for eleven years at the Department of Transportation for the State of Iowa.

Larry was united in marriage to Sherri on August 28, 1976, and this union was blessed with the birth of three children: Crystal Lea, Troy Lawrence, and Ashley Carmen Sebern. His children were his pride and joy.

Larry was a loving father and grandfather. He adored his grandchildren and showered them with love and affection whenever he could. Larry was a strong, resolute man with a hardy handshake and a smile that would light up a room. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, coaching, fossil and rock hunting.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Dorathy Vaughn; brothers: Aaron William (Bill), Robert, Harry, Eugene , Tom, and Floyd; one sister, Marcella; and sister-in-law, Annie. He is survived by his children: daughter, Crystal and husband, Travis Schwarte and their children, Dacota, Sierra, Madison, and Eli of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Troy Lawrence Vaughn and wife, D. Gabriela and their unborn daughter of Hong Kong; and daughter Ashley Teut and fianc, Andrew Krieger and her children, Gage, Gracie, Ryker, and Emma of Omaha, Nebraska; his former wife, Sherri Vaughn of Denison; brothers: Phil and wife, Rita of Dayton, Iowa; Howard and wife, Judy of Vail, Iowa; Franklin Douglas of Denison and his special friend, Connie; Sam Spencer and wife, Karen of Cainsville, Missouri; sister, Sheila Schulte and husband Butch of Dunlap, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Peg Vaughn of Carroll, Iowa; Pat Vaughn of Denison; Elaine Davidson of California; and Gloria Vaughn of Denison; over 100 nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
