Larry Norman Voss was born October 7, 1950, the son of Marvin and Ardell Bauer Voss. He passed away at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, on January 4, 2012, at the age of sixty-one.
Larry was born in Denison, Iowa. He received his education in the Denison Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1968. After graduation, he worked for Loren Schultz Construction, Denison Bottling Company, Farmland Foods, and then United Parcel Service for twenty-eight years, retiring from there in April 2009. Larry was united in marriage to Kay Christiansen on June 24, 1972, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, and this union was blessed with three children.
Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. It made his day extra special anytime he saw his grandchildren. Larry was an avid sports fan, following nephews Jade and Justin who play sports for the Denison Monarchs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and baseball. He had a lot of fun taking the motorhome to Cornhusker baseball games to watch Dillon pitch. Larry was very involved in Little League baseball, coaching his sons baseball teams when they were young. He liked to fish and hunt turkeys using bow, musket or rifle. Golfing, working outdoors, and do woodworking were other favorite pastime activities as well as riding and grooming his horses. Larry enjoyed building and designing houses and remodeling the rooms in their home. He was a very social guy and enjoyed traveling, especially taking their trips to Canada and Table Rock Lake in Missouri. Larry was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Ardell; his mother and father in-law, Orville and Madonna; one brother-in-law, Ted; and one nephew, Jeff. Survivors include: his wife, Kay; three sons: Chad; Ryan and his wife, Shelly; and Andrew and his wife, Jennifer; three grandsons: Fischer, Landon, and Parker; one sister, Carol and her husband, Roger; sisters-in-law and brothers-in law: Martia and Allen; Pat; Ann and Charlie; Becky and Gene; Teresa and John; Debbie and Dan; Kelli and Wade; Kristi and Jim; Beth and Russ; Kathy and Gary; many other relatives and friends.
