Laurel L Nelson

Laurel Lee Nelson was born March 29, 1960, the daughter of Douglas and Ruth Ann McClelland in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She died Friday, January 8, 2016, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of fifty-five.
Laurie attended Long Fellow Junior High in Council Bluffs and Manilla High School in Manilla, Iowa. After high school, Laurie was a stay at home mother. She had several part time jobs, but her favorite was traveling around the country for Blattner & Sons, putting up wind towers.
Laurie was a very loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, crafts, fishing and camping at Nelson’s Park and she especially loved to read. She was a huge collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia and loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Laurie was a big fan of country music and was very happy she was able to see Garth Brooks and Reba McEntire in concert.
Laurie was preceded in death by her father, Douglas; two grandchildren: Dylan and Harper. Survivors include: her mother, Ruth; her children: Misty and her husband, Joe; Cara and her husband, Jake; Keith and his wife, Dawn; Katie and fianc Aaron; Marc and his wife, Liz; twelve grandchildren: Madison, Will, Rachel; Gunner, Tynnlee, Wilder, Chesney, Riley, Stella, Bristal, Tatum and Reese; one brother, Doc and his wife, Karen; two sisters; Jeanne and her husband, Paul; and Monica; many other relatives and friends.
