Laverne E. Christiansen

Laverne E. Christiansen was born September 30, 1927, in Hanover Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Minnie Boyens. She passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety.
Laverne was baptized in Christ October 23, 1927, and confirmed her faith April 6, 1941, both at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, where she was a life-long member. She received her education in a rural school near her home and was employed at the Crawford County Bank for 27 years. She was united in marriage to LaVerne Christiansen September 23, 1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by Rev. C.W. Schmidt.
Dancing and listening to Lawrence Welk, Mustache Joe, Mollie B and other polka bands brought her many hours of enjoyment. She was a lover of flowers and animals, taking in stray cats and was especially fond of her dog named Chipper. Laverne was a good cook and enjoyed it with her speciality being raisin cream pie. She particularly enjoyed children and called them “little snookems”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marion and her husband, Edmund; and two brothers-in-law, Paul and his wife, Betty, and Carol. Survivors include: her husband, LaVerne; nieces and nephews: Lanette and her husband, Bob, Lajean and her husband, Lee, Larry and his wife, Marianne, Lowell and his wife, Terri, Paul Henry and his wife, Josie, Tom and his wife, Lora, and Cindy; other relatives and friends.
