Leo James Pedersen was born in Denison, Iowa, July 7, 1958, the son of Lawrence and Irene Pedersen. He passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019, at his home in Charter Oak, Iowa, at the age of sixty-one.
As an infant, Leo lived in Dow City, Iowa, started his education in the Ute Community School before moving to Denison, where he continued his education and graduated from the Denison Community High School. He was employed as a laborer in various fields, but usually in the agriculture vocation. Places of employment included recently at APC and previously at World Wide Meats, and at an aggregate plant in Jackson, Minnesota. For a time, he also hauled lumber for a lumber yard in the Oakland, California, area. Leo was also employed for a length of time at the Denison Newspapers. Being caring and compassionate, Leo was a care giver for his mother and his brother, Rick, for many years, running their errands and making sure they took their meds.
An avid fisherman, Leo took his nephew fishing numerous times. He also enjoyed hunting and skinned out pheasants. Leo found great pleasure in being around people and joking with them, especially his nieces and nephews. He delighted in taking photographs and was an excellent photographer. Leo had a kind heart and was helpful to anyone in need.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Lea Kay; one brother, Howard; and two sisters, Connie and Sharon. Survivors include: two brothers, Larry and Rick; one brother-in-law, David; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
