Leona Mack

July 15, 1928 — August 22, 2012

Leona Ruth Mack was born July 15, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Minnie Mallum Kremin. She passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 84.
Leona was born in Dow City, Iowa. She attended Dow City Community Schools graduating with the class of 1946. She went to work in Council Bluffs, Iowa, as a telephone operator and in the mid 60s worked at Farmland Foods and Worldwide Meats in Denison. From there Leona went to work at Super Valu in Denison, decorating cakes until she retired. Following her passion for antiques, she purchased the Arion school and started an antique store. Leona was united in marriage to Glen Reeser in 1947 and to this union was born four children. Glen passed away and Leona was married to Albert Mack in 1977.
Leona was an awesome mother and grandmother and loved life. She enjoyed socializing with family and friends and was very fun to be around with her quick wit and the way she found humor in everything. Leona spent many hours in her youth with friends at the local roller skating rink. She was an excellent skater and she and her husband could dance to polkas and waltzes while skating. She loved collecting teddy bears and cardinals when going to gift shops. Other activities that kept Leona busy included crocheting, playing cards, baking, reading books, fishing, and taking trips to the casino. Leona was a Cubs baseball fan and liked to watch them on TV. Leona was a member of the United Church of Christ in Arion in her later years.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Glen and Albert; one daughter, Jacklyn Bukacek; two half brothers, Donald Kremin and Bryce Wingrove. Survivors include one son, Glen Orvil Reeser and his wife, Martha Bell of Palatine, Illinois; two daughters, Jean Lance of Dow City, Iowa; and Mary Jo Peter and her husband, Jim of Charter Oak, Iowa; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Howard Kremin of Dow City; other relatives and friends.
