Leona Rosemond Wight was born August 4, 1914 , the daughter of Wilhelm Henrich Frederich and Rose Magdalena Johnannsen Hintz. She passed away July 10, 2014 at The Pines of Clarkston in Clarkston, Michigan at the age of ninety-nine.
Leona grew up in Denison, attending the Denison schools. She was a baptized and confirmed member of the Denison Lutheran Church. In 1939, Leona was united in marriage to Wesley Iven Wight in Nebraska. Leona worked as a housewife and a sales clerk. She and Wesley made their home in Iowa, Washington, and Michigan. She was a member of Eastern Star for 50 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Iven; a son-in-law, Allen; a grandson, Dean; her parents; her step-father, Charles; two brothers, Earl and Vern; two sisters, Irene and Fern, brothers-in-law Glen, Earl, Paul, Lowell, Jay, WmEmerson; sisters-in-law, Hazel, Evelyn, Josie, Bethel, and Elvera. Survivors include her daughter, LaNette; one granddaughter, LeAnne and her husband Edwin; three great-grandchildren, David, Katherine, and Laura; one sister, Lenora; one sister-in-law, Genevieve; other relatives and friends.
