Leslie Carl Schultz was born on March 11, 1937, the son of Paul and Adelia (Miller) Schultz died on Monday, August 12, 2013, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 76.
Les was born on a farm near Holstein, Iowa, and was baptized April 18, 1937, as an infant in Ida Grove, Iowa. He was confirmed April 6, 1952, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Les received his education from Denison High School graduating in 1955. The following year he joined the U.S. Air Force. During Les’s four year tour, he was stationed at the Park Air Force Base in California; Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi; Okinawa; and a radar site in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
On April 27, 1956, Les was joined in marriage to Patricia Ann (Aldag) at the Grant Lutheran Church in Ida County. They were blessed with the birth of five children. Les farmed in Ida County and in 1973 purchased a farm in Crawford County. In 1977 Les and Pat moved to Schleswig, Iowa, where they still resided to date. Les worked for Farm Service Coop in Ida Grove, Kiron, and then Denison before purchasing Farmers Feed and Grain in Schleswig in 1984.
Les enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, gardening, camping, collecting “treasures” and visiting with friends at the store.
Les was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Allen Schultz and wife, Mary Ann; a sister, Evelyn Greenstreet and her husband, Kermit; two brothers-in-law, Wesley Sherman and Ted Ochsner. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Schultz; children: Cynthia and husband, DeWayne Booth of Blair, Nebraska; Terri Durston of Ida Grove, Iowa; Becky and husband, Michael Mordhorst of Ute, Iowa; Scott Schultz of Schleswig, Iowa; and Sandra and husband, Karl Wittorf of Schleswig, Iowa; 11 grandchildren: Leslie and husband, Adam Engelman, Ashley and husband, Robert Carlisle, Ian Durston and wife, Chelsey, Dane Durston, Sara Durston, Trent Mordhorst and wife, Ali, Amanda Mordhorst, Kristal Mordhorst, Adayla Schultz, Kelsey Wittorf, and Karli Wittorf; four great-grandchildren: Thomas and Peter Engelman, and Brynn and Hailey Carlisle; two sisters: Ruth Sherman of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Phyllis Ochsner of Florissant, Colorado; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
