Leslie C. Campbell

Leslie Curtis Campbell was born June 11, 1942, at Deloit, Iowa, the son of Sabine and Bertha Kessel Campbell. He passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa, at the age of seventy-five.
Les received his education in the schools near his home and was employed at the area packing plants. Les entered the U.S. Army in 1975 and was honorably discharged in June of 1975 due to an injury. He owned a grocery store in Castana for a few years and for a time, Les also owned “The Rendezvous”, a bar on south main street in Denison. His real passion, however, was showing horses of which he had 23. He would break them and then take them to Oklahoma and Texas.
In 1960, Les was united in marriage to Karen Meseck. In 1974, he married Lindy Pickel and on September 14, 2001, he was united in marriage to Deanna Fineran in Dow City, Iowa.
Cars were of special interest to Les, having two Corvettes, Cadillacs, and Porsche, which he loved to work on as a mechanic. He also liked Harley motorcycles and attended bike shows in Daytona, Florida. In his leisure time, he also enjoyed fishing in Canada, hunting, socializing with friends, playing cards, going to the casino and going on drives in the country. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Les was preceded in death by one son, Scotty Campbell; his parents; two brothers, Lowell and Leonard Campbell; two sisters, Lola Campbell and Alice Parsley; and two brothers-in-law, Don Brown and Richard Anderson. Survivors include: his wife, Deanna Campbell of Deloit; two sons, Leonard Campbell and his wife, Vera of Texas, and Trenton Campbell and his wife, Melissa of Vail; three daughters, Cathy Luetje and her husband, Jay of Westside, Tammi Clarke of Indiana and Lori Spears and her husband, Dale of Colorado; stepchildren, Tracie Fineran and Heather Curnyn both of Denison, and Melissa Fineran of Tama, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Hale of Humboldt, Viola Brown and Catherine Anderson, both of Denison; mother-in-law, Lorraine Aschinger of Deloit; two brothers-in-law, Dennis and Steve Fineran of Deloit; his dog and very special friend, Sparkie; other relatives and friends.
