Leta L. Jensen

Leta Louise Jensen passed away Thursday, March 01, 2018, at Accura HealthCare in Carroll. Leta was born March 9, 1927, near Glidden the daughter of Jurgen and Martha Luetje. Leta was baptized on March 21, 1927, at Glidden and confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 6, 1941 by Paster Theo Tews in Arcadia. She graduated from Westside High School in 1944.
August 25, 1945, Leta married Wallace Jensen at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. They made their home on a farm north of Westside, later purchasing and moving to a farm west of Vail where they lived until returning to Westside in 1969. After retiring, Wally and Leta moved to Carroll, Iowa.
Leta held many jobs throughout her life. She began working as a teller at the Westside State Savings Bank. She also served as secretary to the superintendent at Ar-We-Va and finally as secretary at the Noack-Johnson Insurance Agency.
Wally and Leta were blessed with three daughters and very much enjoyed following their many school activities. They enjoyed dancing and were members of the Polka Dots performing at various functions throughout the area. The family was active in 4-H and showed their lambs at many fairs. They enjoyed camping and after retirement spent winters in Texas. Leta enjoyed visiting Las Vegas and the local casinos playing video poker.
Leta is survived by her three daughters: Connie Bradshaw, Jeane (John) Figge, and Patricia (Barry) Hiller. Also surviving are grandchildren Melissa, Brett, Nick, and Chad plus 11 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Norma Luetje and Dee Luetje, stepsister-in-law Marcella (Eddie) Neumann and step-brother-in-law Wayne Maak, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, her husband Wallace, sons-in-law Delos Schumacher and Dennis Bradshaw, one grandson and two great-grandsons, her brothers Karl, Wendell, and Wilbur, and one stepsister-in-law Karen.
