Lillie LaVerne Klink was born September 30, 1913, the daughter of Walter and Lillie Marolf. She died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of one hundred and two.
Lillie was born in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized January 1, 1919 and confirmed April 4, 1926 into the Christian Faith. She received her education in the Denison Community Schools. February 27, 1930, Lillie was united in marriage to Otto Klink at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. The couple settled on the farm and was blessed with the birth of four children. Lillie helped out on the farm with milking, making meals for the hired help when making hay, and butchering and smoking their own meat. She did housekeeping for families in the area along with baking sweet rolls, dinner rolls, and desserts at Cronk’s Restaurant in the late 50s and 60s.
Lillie loved Sunday family dinners, picnics, gardening, baking cookies, donuts and bread for her family. She enjoyed going to garage sales, polka music, the Lawrence Welk Show, Little House On The Prairie and traveling to Minnesota to see the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum. Also traveling to the Black Hills, the Grotto and religious museum near Logan. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing at Columbia Hall, barn dances and fishing with Otto.
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Marlin in infancy; two sons: Robert in 2003 and Fred in 2015; son-in-law, Andrew in 2002.Survivors include: two daughters: Ruth; Florence and her husband, Walter; one daughter-in-law, Betty; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; twenty-eight great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends
