Lloyd Julius Pautsch was born July 25, 1928, the son of Ferdinand and Elsie Jacobs Pautsch. He passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012, at the Denison Health Care Center in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-four.
Lloyd was born on a farm near Charter Oak. He was baptized in Christ on August 9, 1928, at St. John Lutheran Church, Charter Oak and later confirmed there on April 6, 1941. He received his education at St. John Lutheran School and graduated from the Charter Oak High School with the class of 1945. He entered the United States Navy on June 28, 1946, and received his honorable discharge on April 24, 1948. He often commented on what a great experience the Navy gave him.
On December 26, 1950, Lloyd was united in marriage to Jennie at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ute, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Ute until 1958 when they moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado, where Lloyd worked as a carpenter. In 1961, they returned to Iowa to farm and work at IBP in Denison. Lloyd was promoted to plant superintendent at the new IBP plant in Amarillo, Texas in 1974. He retired from IBP for health reasons in 1976 and returned to Iowa where he continued farming.
Lloyd was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed working on the farm and making things from old parts found around the farm with his grandchildren. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching television and movies with his grandchildren, especially westerns and comedy. He was quick witted and enjoyed a keen sense of humor that created a strong bond with his family and especially with his grandchildren.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marian Boeck and Lavina Wiebers. Survivors include his wife, Jennie, of 61 years; two sons: Bruce and his wife, Susan; Brian and his wife, Valeta; one daughter, Shelly and her husband, Dave;seven Grandchildren; two sisters, Irene; Orpha and her husband, Burdell; two brothers, Lester and Russ and his wife, Mary; and two sisters-in-law Minnie and Phyllis; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
