Lois Florence Hansen was born on a farm near Manning, Iowa, on July 30, 1934, to William and Melinda (Sonken) Struve. She died on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of eighty-two.
Her father passed away in August 1942, at which time Lois and her mother moved to Manning. Her grandparents Mr. & Mrs. John Sonksen, along with Lois and Melinda lived together for six years. August 11, 1948, Melinda was married to Walter Bornhoft. During her high school years, Lois lived with her mother and step-father. Her step-father died November 1952.
Lois graduated from Manning High School in 1952. In 1953, she was united in marriage to Lyle Hansen. The couple made their home in Manning, where Lois worked at the Anderson Clinic for twenty years.
Lois was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church and a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and V.F.W. Auxiliary. The couple took many enjoyable vacations together and also enjoyed attending High School activities. In 1973, they moved to Denison, Iowa.
Lois and Lyle were blessed with one son, Rick William Hansen. He was born on May 2, 1970 and passed away on November 28, 2003.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; step-father; son; sister Marjorie and her husband, Bud; her step-brothers, Arlo and his wife, Alice; Harold and his wife, Irma; and her step-sister, Alice and her husband, Roger. Survivors include her husband, Lyle; her brother-in-law, Larry; three sisters-in-law, Helen; Marjorie; and Gloria; other relatives and friends.
