Lois Ferne Adams

Lois Ferne (Carlson) Adams was born November 16, 1919. She was the 10th of 12 children of Albin an Alice Carlson. She died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Denison Care Center at the age of 95.
Lois was born on the Danbury Farm and moved to Charter Oak at the age of 4. She received her education at Willow Township No. 2 Country School. On November 27, 1937, she was united in marriage to Clarence N. Adams in the Catholic Parsonage in Charter Oak, Iowa and were blessed with four children. They farmed in the Ute and Charter Oak areas. In 1973, they had a farm sale and moved to Galva, Iowa to operate the Melody Inn. Then in 1978, they returned to Charter Oak to live. Lois was baptized in 1981, in the Methodist Church . She was the first cook at the Charter Oak Senior Center, where she worked for 12 years. She moved to Dow City in 2001 to be near her son and family. In 2007, she moved to the Denison Care Center where she adopted many new grand kids and friends.
Lois was an exceptional mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved the time she spent with her family and friends. She loved to dance, play cards, flowers, birds, squirrels, crocheting, reading and baking her famous Christmas cookies. She belonged to Royal Neighbors and the Methodist Church in Charter Oak for many years. She enjoyed her exercise classes in Dow City where she met many new friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clarence in 1979; one daughter: Karen; one daughter in-law: Melda; six brothers: John and his wife Violet, Earl, Charles and his wife Clara, Nathan and wife EllaMae, Robert and his wife Margaret, and Beryl; five sisters: Edna and her husband Ed, Ethel and her husband Bill, Lucille and her husband Herb, Florence and her husband Roy, and Delores and her husband Ervin; four brothers-in-law: Wayne, Vincent and Paul Adams, Frank and his wife, Burdette; one sister-in-law; Rosemary and her husband, Vinton, and a special friend, Arlene. She is survived by two daughters: Reta, Lola and husband Jim; one son: Ardell; two sisters-in-law: Regina, and Scharlyne; eleven grandchildren: Mark, Bret, Darla, Darci, Kelli, Carri, Rusty, Robin, DaNette, Travis and Steph; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; special family friend Lee Frazier, many special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
