Lois LaJune Greder was born on August 24, 1935, north of Vail, Iowa to Amanda (Beck) and Meinhard Klink. She was baptized Dec 31, 1935 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by Pastor Freese and later confirmed on April 10, 1949, by Pastor L.S. Winters at Stockholm Church. Lois attended country schools before graduating from Manilla High School on May 19, 1953. While in high school, she worked at Olson bakery and cleaned houses. Lois started working at Mutual of Omaha after graduation and that’s when she met her future husband, Sylvester Greder.
On January 15, 1955, she was united in marriage to Sylvester at the Manilla Lutheran Church with Pastor Nuetyman presiding. The couple was blessed with four children: John, Theresa, LaJune and Gary.
Lois dedicated a significant portion of her life to caring for others. She began her career at Eventide in 1966, where she served as an aide and later as a med aide. Her compassion and dedication to her work were evident until her retirement in 1998, when she chose to devote her time to stay at home with Sylvester.
In addition to her professional contributions, Lois was a vibrant spirit who found joy in many interests. She and Sylvester shared a deep love for traveling, whether it was exploring new places or enjoying the familiar comforts of home. Their shared interests included dancing, dining out, golf and playing cards, activities that brought them immense happiness and forged wonderful memories together.
Her involvement in her church was one of her proudest accomplishments. Lois was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church who actively participated in various church activities, including serving on the altar guild and engaging with the evening guild and fellowship groups. Her commitment to her faith was matched only by her dedication to serving others within her church community.
In addition to her work in the church, Lois contributed her time and efforts to the CCMH Auxiliary and (in telecare, further showcasing her spirit of generosity and compassion towards those in need. Her legacy of service will not be forgotten, as she leaves behind the values of kindness and community support that she embodied throughout her life.
