Lois L. Laubscher

October 26, 1931 — January 3, 2016

Lois Lucille Laubscher was born October 26, 1931, the daughter of Bernhard and Clara Wiegel. She died Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison at the age of eighty-four.
Lois grew up on a farm near Charter Oak, Iowa. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, August 18, 1934, and later confirmed in the Lutheran Faith there March 30, 1947. She received her education in the Charter Oak Community Schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1949. September 19, 1954, she was united in marriage to Fred Laubscher at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. The couple made their home in Dow City and was blessed with the birth of three children.
Her devotion to her Lord and Savior and her Christian community made her service to the church very important. She was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church as illustrated through her various church activities, including being a member of the Ladies Aid, and her more than 30 year service as a Sunday School teacher in addition to other social activities that the church provided..
Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. In her leisure time, Lois enjoyed sewing and made items of clothing for her children, grandchildren and for herself. She helped Fred with his crafts as needed and was involved with planning, finishing and sewing fabric for many of his projects. The couple shared efforts in their vegetable garden and she would do the canning, often giving extras away. Listening to the Lawrence Welk Show and Polka hour on KDSN were two of the favorites she rarely missed.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; three sisters, Mildred, Irene and Leona; four brothers, Leonard, LaVerne Ray and John. Survivors include two sons: Mark and his wife, Judy; Paul and his wife, Deanna; one daughter, Lynette and her husband, Jim; five grandchildren: Ashley, Brandon, P.J., Lara and Hunter; five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Gladys, Frances and Amelia; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
