Lois Mae Hottendorf was born May 21, 1928, the daughter of Clair and Nellie Strong. She passed away May 1, 2017, at Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-eight.
Lois received her education in the Holstein, Iowa, schools. On March 17, 1951, she was united in marriage to Milroy (Mick) Hottendorf at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. The couple settled in Denison and were blessed with the birth of three children: Garry, Roy and Judy. She was employed by Chain-O-Egg and Farmland for seven years and also drove a gravel truck with her husband.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Lois was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed fishing at Spirit Lake, Okoboji and South Silver Lake in Minnesota where they had a cabin. Favorites included westerns on television, country music, playing the guitar and socializing with family and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1998; son-in-law, Roland; three brothers, Mick and his wife, Eileen, Walt, and Bud and his wife, Elna; and one sister, Anna and her husband Clifford. Survivors include: two sons, Garry and his wife, Nancy; and Roy and his wife, Reva; one daughter, Judy; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Elaine; one brother-in-law, Vernet; other relatives and friends.
