Lois Mary (Slechta) Murphy was born on June 3, 1954, the daughter of Orville Jr. and Esther (Frasier) Slechta in Denison. She was raised Methodist and later confirmed her faith on April 24, 1983, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She received her elementary education from Dunlap schools and then attended Denison schools, finishing her education in 1972.
Lois married Roger Boehm on September 4, 1970, and the couple was blessed with a daughter, Angele. On October 10, 1981, she married Allyn Maack and the couple was blessed with a daughter, Billie. On September 24, 2013, Lois was united in marriage to Kelly Murphy and they had 12 wonderful years together.
Lois worked in the food industry. She spent many years, waitressing, bartending, and cooking. In recent years, she enjoyed greeting people at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and carried a strong faith.
Growing up she enjoyed camping and horse back riding with her family. She also enjoyed reading, bowling, golfing, and playing pool. She had a knack for reviving her daughters’ plants, as they didn’t acquire her green thumb. Lois was able to adventure with her husband, Murph and take many vacations with friends. Some of her favorite places were Jamaica, Mexico, Colorado, Tijuana and California. After Kelly’s passing, Lois shared her home with her mother so they could be closer and spend quality time together. Above all, she cherished spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. They will remember the many trips to the waterpark, the delicious meals she cooked, and they will forever cherish her memories. Lois faced life head on. She will always be remembered for her fierce loyalty and being there when you needed her. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
