Lorna Ann Petersen was born June 17, 1934, in rural Denison, Iowa, the daughter of George and Florence Deiber. She passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five.
Lorna was baptized into Christ February 25, 1936, at St. John Lutheran Church in Buck Grove and later confirmed her faith at that same church. She received her education in the Denison School District and graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1952. Lorna was united in marriage to Louis Petersen October 3, 1954, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. The couple made their home on the family farm and was blessed with the birth of two children, Jeff and Vicki. Lorna was a homemaker and after Walmart came to Denison, she was employed there for a number of years.
Sewing, crocheting and knitting were her favorite pastimes. She used her hands to create many things and volunteered her talent to knit hats and help make quilts for World Relief. Lorna enjoyed attending garage sales and in her younger days, she participated in square dancing, playing cards and socializing. Watching television also provided many hours of pleasure for her, especially watching her favorite programs of Swamp People, Curse of Oak Island and Jeopardy.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis in 2006; one sister, Georgia; two brothers, George and Roy; and one brother-in-law, Robert. Survivors include: one daughter, Vicki and her husband, Frank; one son, Jeffrey; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley; and one sister-in-law, Virgie; other relatives and friends.
