Lorraine Carol Weinbrandt

Lorraine Carol (Marsh) Weinbrandt, daughter of Ted and Anna (Johnson) Marsh, was born on September 29, 1932, at her home near Mapleton, Iowa. She was baptized on April 17, 1959, and confirmed her faith two days later on April 19, 1959, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She received her education in a rural school in Monona County through the 8th grade.

Lorraine and her sister, Darlene enjoyed entertaining others by playing the guitar and accordion together. At an early age, she started working in other families' homes.

Lorraine married Roger Weinbrandt on February 26, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Their love of dancing brought them together and in their later years they won a competition. The couple was blessed with four children: Marlys, Allen, Marlene, and Janet. They made their home on a farm north of Deloit. Lorraine stayed busy raising her children and working at home. She also worked at Busy Bee's, Joanie's Place, and Kasperbauer Cleaners until her retirement. In 1999, the couple moved to Denison.

Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who would do anything for her family. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Not only did she make her children's clothes, but many others benefited from her talents. She had a green thumb and loved caring for her plants and irises. Lorraine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Lorraine passed away on November 7, 2022, at Gracewell - Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison at the age of 90 years, one month and nine days.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger Weinbrandt; grandson, Nathan Schmadeke; great-grandson, Rhett Younggren; brothers: Dale, Norman, Earl, Everett, and Robert in infancy; and sisters: Rosella, Darlene, and Eleanor. She is survived by four children: Marlys (Keith) Schmadeke of Urbandale, Allen Weinbrandt of Charter Oak, Marlene (Doyle) Simonson of Marion, Janet (Jeff) Hoffman of Carroll; six grandchildren: April, Aaron (Jenny), Kelsey (Matt), Heather (John), Douglas (Sarah), and Courtney (Adam); nine great-grandchildren: Jack, Owen, Josie, Maddie, Eden, Cooper, Addie, Cora, and Emma; three step great-grandchildren: Alec, Kali, and Carter; sister-in-law, Judie Marsh of Wall Lake; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family greeting friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Interment will be held in the Oakland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
