Louis "Buzz" Messenbrink

Louis “Buzz” Richard Messenbrink was born September 17, 1941, the son of Vern and Dorothy Kinney Messenbrink. He passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 72.
Buzz was born in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized on October 26, 1941, and confirmed on May 11, 1952, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. After completing his education, Buzz worked for Dick Knowles and the glass company in Denison. On January 24, 1959, he was united in marriage to Judith Ehrichs and to this union was born three children. Buzz enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on May 19, 1959, and served in the Vietnam War at the Da Nang Air Field. He decided to make this a career and remained in the Air Force for 20 years.
After retiring from the Service, the couple moved to Schleswig, Iowa. He worked for Lee Hollander for a year and then in the early 1980s started a window washing business. During this time Buzz also drove school bus until retiring.
Buzz enjoyed fishing and golfing in his spare time. In his younger years he was a member of a bowling team and liked to play cards. He loved to play Bingo and traveling to Deloit, Sloan, Denison, and Westside whenever he could. On December 21, 2003, Buzz was confirmed and joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tamera Jo Mitchell; one granddaughter, Moriah Mitchell; one brother, Larry Mesenbrink, and three sisters: Mary Patricia Mesenbrink in infancy; Sandra Niezgoda and her husband, Walter; and Colleen Mesenbrink.
Survivors include his wife, Judith of Schleswig; two children: Rodney Messenbrink and his wife, Gina of Florida; and Terri Kastner and her husband, Ross of Schleswig; three grandchildren: Nick, Tanner and Jeremy; two step grandchildren, Kayla and Krissy; two great-grandchildren, Kinnick and Mariah; four brothers: James Mesenbrink and his wife, Marge of Bellevue, Nebraska; William Mesenbrink and his wife, Judith of Omaha,Nebraska; Daniel Mesenbrink of Dallas, Texas; and David Messenbrink and his wife, Pat of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Celeste Stoltze and her husband, Bruce of Des Moines, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, LuAnn Mesenbrink of Denison; other relatives and friends.
