Lucille Pauline Hull was born December 14, 1924 on a farm northwest of Woodbine, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Gussie (Sewing) Ulmer. She attended country school through eighth grade and then went to Woodbine High School. She graduated with the Class of 1942. After graduation, she worked for the Superintendent for two years.
On December 29, 1945, Lucille was united in marriage to Frank Hull in the Christian Church Parsonage by Rev. Thomas Frazier in Moorhead. Frank and Lucille moved to the family Hull farm. To this union, they had four children: Cheryl, Barbara, Terry, and Janice. In 1971, the family moved to Denison.
Lucille worked as a cook at the Denison High School from 1974/1975 until her retirement in 1990. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, Methodist Women and afternoon circle. She had a strong faith in her Lord who cherished her family more than anything. Lucille enjoyed having family over for dinner, especially for holidays and birthdays. She had a knack for quilting, sewing, and working outside with her flowers.
Lucille passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, attaining the age of ninety-seven years, two months, and eighteen days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hull; son, Terry Hull; daughter, Barbara Hadden; son-in-law, Dennis Amundson; baby brother, Jakie Ulmer Jr.; sister, Arlene and her husband Glen Nichols; and brothers, Gerald Ulmer and Donald Ulmer.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Cheryl Amundson of Ute and Janice and her husband Merlin Arnold of Denison; son-in-law, John Hadden of Soldier; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hull of Alta; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Ulmer of Denison; grand dog, Lucy; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service is 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Denison with visitation one hour prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment is in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. Memorials may be directed to the family to donate to organizations in Lucille's name.
