She enjoyed conversing with their customers. Luella was very devoted to her in-laws, Herbert and Esther Braase, caring for them in their final years. She was also a dedicated housewife, who enjoyed fishing with Bob, reading, the challenge of crossword puzzles and in retirement she and Bob liked to "go to the Casino" occasionally, she met many good friends there and enjoyed socializing. Luella loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob and Luella were married for 57 years at the time of his death in 2002.
Luella was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, a Charter member of Jr. Guild, Women's Guild and School Mother's Club, and she also taught Sunday School and Bible School.
