Lyle Gordon Pauley was born August 23, 1935, the son of Peter C. and Martha E. (Tepley) Pauley, in Clarkson, Nebraska. He passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty.
Lyle spent his early childhood in Clarkson before moving to Harlan, Iowa. He attended school in both Clarkson and Harlan. He was united in marriage to Janet Lorraine Bohlmann on July 7, 1957, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township. Lyle served in the U.S. Army for two years and was stationed in Alabama and Texas. After his discharge, Lyle and Janet made their home on a farm north of Harlan, Iowa. They were blessed with the birth of two children, Rick and Randy. In 1967, Lyle and his family moved to a farm near Charter Oak. When he wasn’t farming, Lyle could be found in his shop repairing, building, or welding equipment. He also enjoyed tractor pulls and sprint car races. Lyle was never at a loss for words and always enjoyed visiting with others.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Janet; two sons: Rick and his wife, Ann; and Randy and his wife, Donna; four grandchildren: Kathryn, Bennett, Jacob and Maxson; two step-grandchildren: Wayne and his wife, Casey, and Katie; three step-great-grandchildren: Karlee, Wyatt, and Rayna. He is also survived by one sister, Patricia, as well as other relatives and friends.
