Lynette Jean Schultz

April 20, 1966 — May 21, 2024

Lynette “Lynn” Jean Schultz was born on April 20, 1966, the daughter of James and Jean (Torgerson) Schultz in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized and later confirmed her faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. Lynn received her education from Charter Oak-Ute High School and graduated with the class of 1984.

Lynn spent many years working at Pamida and Shopko and later at Kidzone Child Care Center in Ida Grove. Lynn was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak where she developed her faith in the Lord. Lynn enjoyed her childhood growing up on a farm and always enjoyed having pets, especially cats. Lynn was a sports fan who enjoyed watching her sisters compete in school and then later in life was known to watch all kinds of sporting events on TV, especially cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones and sometimes even the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Her favorite pastimes were listening to music, watching The Voice as well as making crafts that she liked to share.  But above all else, Lynn treasured and adored her family, especially her nieces and nephews, whom she loved with all of her heart. Those who had the privilege of knowing Lynn will remember her as a kind and compassionate soul who always put others before herself. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Lynn peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at EveryStep Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines at the age of 58 years, one month and one day.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles. Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters: Regina MacLaine of Denison and Jill (Justin) Nepper of Urbandale; nieces and nephews: Zachary Preul (Faith Rosburg) of Denison and their children: Emma, Denver and Layne; Jesse (Savannah) Preul of Boone and their son, Brooks; Cassandra (Sheldon) Christophersen of Ute and their daughters: Millie, Audrey and Ivy; Sydney Nepper of Marion and Lauren Nepper of Urbandale; many aunts and uncles; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation with family greeting friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, also at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak with interment to follow in the St. John Cemetery.
