Lynne Sharon Gronau was born December 1, 1944, the daughter of Elmer and LaVerne Hamann Spack. She passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, at her home in Schleswig, Iowa, at the age of sixty-nine.
Lynne was born in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed St. John Lutheran Church in Kiron. She received her early education in the Boyer Community School, Gowrie Community School and graduated from the Odebolt High School. Lynne was united in marriage to Abe Gronau on April 7, 1963, at St. John Lutheran Church in Kiron, Iowa and were blessed with the birth of four children. The couple made their home in Kiron before moving to Rockport, Missouri for a short time and moving back to Kiron. Later making their home in Schleswig. After her children were grown, Lynne worked in housekeeping at the Odebolt Nursing Home, Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, the Denison Care Center and other part time jobs. She also managed the Schleswig Golf Course.
Lynne was a very loving and caring person who enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her children and grandchildren’s activities. She loved flowers and socializing over a game of cards and coffee. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, going to the movies, knitting, traveling, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kiron and several card clubs.
Lynne was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Scott, a sister-in-law, Ruth Spack and brother-in-law, Lyle Kropf. Survivors include her husband, Abe; three daughters, Tracy and her husband, Todd; Michelle and Monica; four grandchildren, Jake and his wife, Miranda; Caitlin; Jessenia and Jack; and one great-grandson, Khairo; one brother, Kay; brother-in-law, Jerry and his wife, Barb; two sisters-in-law, Jane and Jean; other relatives and friends.
