Marcella May Bral was born August 14, 1935, the daughter of William and Clara Ress Hammer. She passed away at the Manilla Manor on Tuesday, May 08, 2012, at the age of 76.
Marcella was born in Denison, Iowa. She received her education in the Denison Community Schools. Marcella was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Bral on June 20, 1952, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Sac City, Iowa. The couple settled in Omaha, Nebraska, for one year before moving to Denison. The couple was blessed with five children. Marcella worked at the Community Caf and the Crawford County Memorial Hospital until March of 1969. When Bob and Fritz realized their dream of starting a business; they began Bral Plumbing and Concrete where Marcella not only did the bookkeeping but also helped Bob on job locations.
Marcella enjoyed a variety of hobbies which included gardening, painting the wooden crafts Bob made, leather works, baking cakes for family and friends, and fishing with Bob. She doted on her grandchildren, who considered her the best listener when their parents were being unreasonable. Many a weekend would find Marcella spending time with one of the grandchildren. One of the favorite stories is Grandmas famous babysitting. She would bring the cheesy popcorn and a movie (not scary) and would fall asleep by 10pm. She could tell you something special about each of the great- grandchildren and was willing to share with everyone how wonderful each one was. Marcella was famous for her home remedies. If anyone had anything wrong, she had the cure (ranging from cold to injury). Marcella was an avid Scrabble player and often conned people into playing because she wasnt that good (dont mind the 14 dictionaries and Thesauruses that magically appeared when you said yes). Marcella had a soft spot for all animals, especially her pet dogs and cats.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; three brothers, Melvin, Arthur, and Don; and one sister Elizabeth.
