Marcia Brodersen

Marcia Ann Brodersen was born October 29, 1948, the daughter of Darriel and Bernadine Siemer Landgraf. She passed away at her home in Schleswig, Iowa, on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the age of 64.
Marcia was born in Denison, Iowa. She received her education in the Schleswig Community Schools graduating with the class of 1966. After high school Marcia worked as a Nurses Aide at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. On May 24, 1969, Marcia was united in marriage to Darrell Brodersen at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, and to this union was born three children. The couple moved to the farm in 1972 where Marcia stayed busy raising her family. When the children were grown she did custodial work at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig and then worked as a custodian at the Denison High School for almost 20 years. The couple moved to Schleswig in 1994.
Marcia enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and especially her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and loved to prepare meals for the family. Marcia loved to work with her flowers and arrangements that could be found displayed around her house. Euchre was Marcias favorite card game and when she listened to music, she would pick country love songs by Conway Twitty or Randy Travis. She was a very hard worker and when she relaxed, she enjoyed reading a good book. Marcia was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Kylie Ann Brodersen; and her half-brother, Charles Newman. Survivors include her husband, Darrell Brodersen of Schleswig; two sons: Kyle Brodersen and his wife, Tammy of Denison; and Ricky Brodersen of Kiron; and one daughter, Candis Denker and her husband, Rick of Denison; one brother, Larry Landgraf and his wife, Dorothy of Ida Grove, Iowa; one sister, Sharon Segebart and her husband, Gene of Lake City, Iowa; one half-sister, Janice Dickes and her husband, Larry of Sioux City, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Diane Newman of Denison; four grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
