Margaret "Becky" Irvine

Margaret Rebecca Irvine was born September 3, 1950, the daughter of Elijah and Margaret Schultz Nelson. She passed away in an automobile accident near Denison, Iowa, on Monday, January 23, 2012, at the age of 61.
Becky was born in Batesville, Mississippi. She received her education in the South Panola, Mississippi Schools graduating with the class of 1968. Becky attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College in Senatobia, Mississippi for two years where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; and then received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Mississippi, "Ole Miss," in Oxford, Mississippi in 1972. Becky was united in marriage to James Irvine on January 4, 1981, at the United Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa. She worked as a teacher, librarian, and then as a correspondent for the Sioux City Journal.
Becky was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was determined to do things her own way and was not a follower, but a self-imposed decision maker. She also loved to read, instilling the importance of this to her family. Becky was very involved with her sons activities and always kept in close contact with the family, calling them often, especially if they were traveling. She loved to bake and would send care packages of cookies to her sons while at college. She also enjoyed caring for her cats. Becky was a member of the United Methodist Church in Denison.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Jim and three sons: Brandon, Brennan, and Braeden; other relatives and friends."
