Mark Richard Berens was born November 25, 1967, the son of Michael and Norma Henshen Berens. He died Sunday, January 15, 2012, in a vehicle accident.
Mark was born at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized into Christ on December 17, 1967, and confirmed on April 4, 1982, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm by Charter Oak and attended Charter Oak-Ute Community School, graduating with the class of 1986. He later attended Western Iowa Tech at Sioux City completing a one year program in Ag Diesel Mechanics. He worked at Schenkelberg Implement in Denison for eight years before opening B&G Repair and Sales in Ute with partner Richard Goslar.
Mark was a loving and caring son and brother. He enjoyed repairing agriculture machinery, John Deere tractors, and all aspects of farming. His love for farming and his dedication and love for his customers kept him close to home, and to his roots. He was a jokester and humorist who enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He had a very close relationship with Brian and Jim Henschen and enjoyed all the activities they shared together as they were growing up. He also looked forward to his annual fishing trips to South Dakota.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Norma ; one sister, Jayne and her husband, Hans; and one brother, Thomas and his wife, Jenny ; nieces and nephews: Andreaand her husband, Scott; Jessica, Dan, Sean, Carter, BreAnna and Bredie ; many other relatives and friends.
