Mark W. Bockelmann

Mark William Bockelmann was born on February 4, 1954, the son of William Jr. and Ethel (Laumbach) Bockelmann in Ida Grove, Iowa. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. Mark received his education from Ida Grove High School and graduated with the class of 1972. He went on to graduate from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s business degree. 

 In 1976, Mark started working at Farmland Foods as a very dedicated and loyal employee until his retirement in September of 2008. Mark enjoyed traveling and fishing with his family. Their many visited locations included but were not limited to: Alaska, Missouri, Minnesota and Las Vegas. His family was very important to him, and he cherished the many memories made. 

 Mark passed away at his home in Denison on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the age of 70 years, six months and one day. 

 Mark was preceded in death by his parents and great-nephew, Daryl Zobel. He is survived by his siblings: Chrystal (Allen) Zobel of Audubon, Eugene (Linda) Bockelmann of Fort Dodge and Richard (Cheryl) Bockelmann of Denison; nieces and nephews: Teri (Dan) Olson of Des Moines, Andrew Zobel of Sioux City, Alicia (Christian) Beckendorf of Ankeny, Dana (Tony) Recker of Fort Dodge, Linsey Albright of Harcourt, Adam (Candace) Bockelmann of San Antonio, Texas, and Brandon (Lindsey) Bockelmann of Ankeny; 19 great-nieces and nephews; five great-great-nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

 A private memorial service will be held with the family at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison with inurnment at the St. Clair Cemetery near Ute. Memorials may be directed to the family for a donation to be made in his name.
