Marla D Mckee

Marla Denise McKee was born September 20, 1957, the daughter of Clayton and Helen Namanny Meyer. She died at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, on Friday, November 23, 2012, at the age of 55.
Marla was born in Denison, Iowa, where she grew up and received her education in the Denison Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1975. After completing her education, she first worked for the A & W Drive In, then at Super Valu, and later the Plaza Coffee Shop as a cook for her mother who was the owner operator of the restaurant. On August 11, 1979, she was united in marriage to Mike McKee at her familys home in Denison. In the early 1980s, Marla began her career in baby sitting and daycare which she was able to continue with until her health failed and she received a kidney and pancreas transplant. She was an avid Elvis and Elton John fan and collected various memorabilia from concerts she attended. She collected rocks on trips they took from many states they traveled through, and always reminded her family to bring rocks back from the trips they took. She enjoyed baking cookies for her children and for the children she cared for through her daycare work.
In her leisure time, Marla enjoyed playing cards, camping, canoeing with her family, and watching movies, especially scary movies. While camping, she enjoyed sitting around the fire and reminiscing about their fondest memories. She loved children but was especially happy when she was with her own children and grandchildren.
Marla was preceded in death by her fathers-in-law, Dennis McKee and Wayne Schultz; and one stepson, Dennis Lee McKee. Survivors include her husband, Mike of Denison; two daughters, Casi Beil and her friend, Scott Vandemark of Denison; and Kayla McKee and her friend, Andy Lee of Schleswig, Iowa; two step-daughters, Stephanie Harden and her husband, Jeff of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Michelle McKee and her friend, Jeff Fink of Denison; one granddaughter, Evelyn Beil of Monroe, South Dakota; and four step-grandchildren, Nate, Jordan and Sydney Harden all of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Brooklynn Fink of Denison; her mother, Helen Weinbrandt of Denison; her father and step-mother, Clayton and Edna Meyer of Denison; one brother, Clark Meyer of Vail, Iowa; two sisters, Lisha Beermann and her husband, Richard Dingle of Dow City, Iowa; and Tammy Stouffer and her husband, Bill of Reed Springs, Missouri; her mother-in-law, Betty Schlutz of Denison; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Steve McKee and his wife, Karen of Liberty, Missouri; David McKee and his wife, Pam; Melanie Coenen and her husband, Bob; and Alanna Thelen and her husband, Jim; all of Denison; Natalie Brede and her husband, Gordon of Lake Forest, California; Jeff Schultz and his wife, Kris of Ankeny, Iowa: and four step-sisters, Janice, Lorraine, Audrey and Susan; other relatives and friends.
