Marleen Ann Dixon

June 29, 1950 — June 1, 2022

Marleen Ann Dixon was born on June 29, 1950 to the late Melvin and Mary (Wulf) Dixon in Carroll, Iowa. She was the oldest of four girls and was like a second mom to her sisters. She graduated Ar-We-Va High School with the Class of 1968. After graduation, she enrolled into Northwest Missouri State University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in May of 1972.

Marleen was a buyer of Younker's for nearly 25 years and she was also employed at the Briggs Corporation and Unity Point. She lived near Fresno, California for a few years before returning back to West Des Moines. She was an avid walker and reader who loved animals, especially her two late dogs, Benji and Oreo, and her two cats, Bella and Bailee.

Some of her favorite foods include: salmon, avocados, chicken, and tuna salad. During the holiday seasons, she always made her salted nut rolls and rice crispy bars for her family. Marleen also enjoyed her flower gardens and doing yard work, even when it wasn't her yard. If you ever had a chance to meet Marleen, you would only agree that she was a very kind and generous soul. She always lent a helping hand and never asked for anything in return.

Marleen passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, attaining the age of seventy-one years, eleven months, and three days. She was preceded in death by her parents and niece, Nicole Bradley.

She is survived by her sisters: Janis Dixon of Altoona, Vicki and her husband, Rick Bradley of Des Moines, and Terri Ramold of Omaha, Nebraska; nephews: Chad, Troy, James, and Jonathan; great-nieces and nephews: Dylan, Gage, Caleb, Skye, Kyler, Peyton, Myles and Graham; great-great-nephew, Walker; other relatives and friends.
