Marvin Longnecker

January 21, 1937 — July 14, 2012

Marvin Eugene Longnecker was born in Odebolt, Iowa, on January 21, 1937, the son of Eugene and Evelyn Arnholdt Longnecker. He passed away July 14, 2012 at his home near Dow City at the age of seventy-five.
As an infant, Marvin was baptized into faith and his strong Christian faith was evident in his daily life. He joined the U.S. Army in September 1960 and served our country as an automotive mechanic until his honorable discharge in September 1962. He worked for Good Year Tire and then opened Marves Tire and Alignment in 1988 but had to close after it flooded twice. In more recent years he repaired lawn mowers.
Marvin had a passion for Buicks and raced cars until his accident when he broke his neck. He was a very conservative man who enjoyed socializing. Whether it be with family and friends or with people who would stop over to visit. He enjoyed sitting in the yard and mowing around Kenwood. In his spare time he liked to tinker, play cards and read the Bible, health and farm books, and magazines.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gene in 1980; and his parents. Survivors include: one son, Dale and his wife, Amy; five grandchildren; one step-daughter, Charlene; one sister, Marilyn and her husband, Keith; other relatives and friends.
