Mary Ellen Segebart was born April 3, 1928, the daughter of Enos and Ida Kline. She died Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-eight.
Mary was born on a farm near Dunlap, Iowa. She received her education in the Dow City Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1945. On May 17, 1945, Mary was united in marriage to Raymond Segebart at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Denison by Rev. Carl Schmidt. The couple made their home on a farm near Dow City and was blessed with the birth of three sons. They farmed various farms in Ida and Crawford Counties until purchasing a farm near Dow City.
Mary loved baking bread and donuts, sewing quilts for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed vegetable and indoor and outdoor flower gardening. Together Raymond and Mary enjoyed remodeling various homes in Dow City and Denison. In her leisure time Mary enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri and socializing with family and friends over a game of cards. Mary was baptized in the Christian faith and confirmed December 2, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, David; daughter-in-law, Kelly; three sisters, Blanche and her husband, Charles; Catherine and her husband, Leroy; Maymie and her husband, Walter; and two brothers, Ted and his wife, Irene; and Ray and his wife, Catherine. Survivors include: three sons: Dale and his wife, Phyliss; Stuart and his wife, Debbi and Stanley; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
