Mary H. (Zeimen) Lally was born on October 13, 1929, on a farm near Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Sarah (Uhl) Zeimen. Mary passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, attaining the age of 94 years.
Mary attended the country school near their home when they moved to a farm in Paradise Township, west of Denison. On September 14, 1950, Mary married the love of her life, Martin Lally, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Their union was blessed with eight children. They moved to the family farm in 1962 to present.
Mary's life was filled with love and compassion and was a beautiful and kind person. She dedicated herself to her family and found true joy in the simple things in life. Time with her grandchildren brought her immense happiness and each visit to her farm was an unforgettable adventure. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She loved nature walks, collecting pretty rocks, gardening, baking, reading, and she loved to write. In retirement, Mary and Marty loved to travel with their many friends. Mary lived life by the sentiment, if you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance.
