Merilee R. Reetz

Merilee Rose Reetz was born on July 8, 1940, to Clarence and Bertha (Brandt) Maak in Denison, Iowa. Merilee married Leonard Reetz on February 5, 1961, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Iowa. Merilee worked at the turkey plant in Denison, the Carrollton Inn in Caroll, Iowa, and the Play More Bar in Denison.
Merilee had a big heart for animals, especially stray cats. She loved country music; particularly Alan Jackson, playing cards, and decorating for Christmas. Merilee cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Merilee died on August 31, 2020, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa at the age of 80 years, one month and 23 days.
Merilee was preceded in death by her parents and sister, JoAnn Sopher. She is survived by her husband, Leonard Reetz of Arcadia; children, Steve Reetz and Cindy Jacobsen of Manilla, Iowa and Sheila Staples of Carroll; four grandchildren, Shannon Staples and wife Katie, Sean Staples and special friend, Tasha McCullough, Josh Reetz and special friend, Dariel Pratt, Brandi and husband Keaton Graffunder; two sisters, Lorraine Koenck of Lake City, Iowa and Shirley Freese of Manilla; and a host of other relatives and friends.
