Michael Joe Treinen

Michael Joe Treinen was born March 14, 1960, son of Miles (Butch) and LaDelle Olson Treinen in LeMars, Iowa. He passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the age of 54.
Michael received his education at Denison High School. He was united in marriage to Cynthia Kay Grote on September 26, 1986 in Denison, Iowa. He worked for various farmers in the area. While working for Lacy North, he trained horses, mules, and oxen and other farm animals. Michael would jump rope on the oxen, walk on stilts, and ride unicycles in parades. He enjoyed sharing the interesting stories about his experiences at Lacy’s farm. He then worked for Hawk-Crampton Chevrolet in Denison and finally Dubuque meat packing until he was injured, forcing an early retirement. He was also a stay at home dad, raising his two sons.
He was a kind and considerate person, offering help to anyone. He enjoyed animals and training his spoiled pet dogs. Michael was a fixer-upper who could fix about anything broken. Duct tape and coat hangers were some of his favorite tools of his trade. He enjoyed modifying many of his children’s riding toys, fixing various pieces of equipment, and tinkering on his vehicles. He took great pride in the care of his lawn. He loved to take pictures and catch you on the cam corder. He was an avid collector of Hot Wheels, small antiques, and loved to find little “treasures.” His favorite channels to watch included the History Channel, Discovery, and A&E. Michael loved fishing with his kids, hanging out with friends, and being a stay at home dad.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents, and best friends Michael and Randy. Survivors include his wife, Cindy; two sons, Joseph and his wife, Samantha; and Thomas; three sisters, Jaci and her husband, Doug; Michele and her husband, Brian; Myla and her husband, Donnie; two brothers, Jeff and his wife, Marcia; and Tony; two granddaughters; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
